Female Football Week 2026

8–17 May 2026 — Celebrating the Women & Girls of MJSC

Stories. Celebration. Community. 💜

This May, we're proud to celebrate Female Football Week at the Millthorpe Tigers — ten days dedicated to the incredible women and girls who make our football club what it is.

From the players who pull on the orange and white each weekend, to the coaches, referees, managers, canteen volunteers and committee members working behind the scenes, Female Football Week is our chance to recognise every female who shapes the heart of MJSC.

Why It Matters

"Girls are not just smaller versions of boys. And boys are not the default." — Kate Wright, MJSC Female Football Coordinator

Sport builds confidence. It builds resilience. It builds leadership. 80% of female Fortune 500 CEOs played sport growing up — and the impact reaches far beyond the field.

And yet, by the age of 14, girls drop out of sport at twice the rate of boys. We see that pattern across Australia, and we see it at Millthorpe.

That's why this week — and the work behind it — matters.

When girls feel they belong, they stay. So we're working hard to make sure every girl at MJSC feels she belongs here.

Stories Throughout the Week

Across the ten days, we'll be sharing stories of the amazing women and girls of our football family on social media — players, coaches, leaders, volunteers.

Because visibility creates belief. Belief creates participation. And every girl deserves to see what's possible.

Follow along on Facebook and Instagram to celebrate with us. You might just see someone you know.

Why Purple?

Purple is the international colour representing justice, dignity and gender equality — values we are proud to stand behind at MJSC.

You'll see it everywhere this week: ribbons in players' hair, armbands on the field, and a purple wall ready for your photos.

🎉 Big Celebration Day — Saturday 16 May

Join us at Millthorpe Village for a full day of home games and Female Football Week celebrations.

On the day:

Come along, cheer on our teams, snap a photo, and take a moment to thank the women and girls who make this club tick.

🎤 Queens of the Pitch — MJSC Trivia Night

Round off the day at Club Millthorpe for our Female Football Week trivia night.

A night of fun, food, friends and football — all while raising funds to support female participation at MJSC, including our Girls Love Football (GLF) program.

What Your Support Builds

Funds raised on Trivia Night go directly toward our Girls Love Football program — a female-led pre-season initiative that introduces girls to the game in a confidence-building environment, and supports women into qualified coaching roles.

In 2018, girls made up 20% of our winter cohort. In 2026, that number is 35% — a participation share that has nearly doubled in eight years. Programs like GLF are why.

Every girl deserves a place on the pitch. Your support helps us get there.

This Is Our Game

To every woman and girl who plays, coaches, officiates, manages, volunteers, supports or simply turns up — thank you. You make our club stronger every day.

We're not just building players. We're building futures.

Let's celebrate. 💜🐯
